“Moral Beauty” with Bruce Grierson
For his “Psychology of Beauty” class, the American psychologist Rhett Deissner gives his students an assignment: Every week, they must write down in their diary four examples of beauty that they have encountered that week: something beautiful in nature, something beautiful designed by humans, a beautiful idea, and “something beautiful they saw someone do.” This last one is what Plato called “moral beauty,” and it forms the spine of this reflection on the benefits of deliberately tuning in to what’s still worth celebrating.
Join us for a Soup Lunch after this service, prepared by Dianne Hicks. (Suggested donation: $5/person).
